Guide To Become A Real Estate Agent – As of April 30, 2019, OREA will no longer accept new student registrations. Registration for the real estate broker licensing exam after May 1, 2019, will need to be done through Humber College. Students who are already registered through OREA can continue to complete the study and exams for their real estate agent license through OREA and can list as a real estate agent by completing the first 5 exams within 18 months of registration. The OREA Realtor License Study and Exam Center will officially close in November 2020.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and hold a Canadian high school diploma or equivalent qualification. Students who do not have the appropriate qualifications can take the Salesperson Program Admission Exam to complete the qualification certification. The Salesperson Program Admission Exam costs $75 CAD. However, if you feel that you have not understand the online classes, you can pay an additional fee to attend the class in person to participate in the in-class discussion.
The Additional Residential Real Estate Transactions course and The Commercial Real Estate Transaction course have added Simulation Sessions, and students are required to attend the Simulation Sessions in person. Sessions. All parts of the course can be completed through the online course. Simulation Sessions can be taken online, weekdays or weekends, with flexible hours.
Currently, all mandatory four invigilated exams (Course 1 to Course 4) are offered online by using the “Proctor Track“ app.
The study fee for the first course Real Estate Essentials is $525 and the exam fee is $100. The second course, Risidential Real Estate Transactions, costs $595 to study and $100 to take the exam. Students who still have questions after taking the basic online course may consider paying an additional $280 to participate in additional online or in-class learning discussions. The third course, Additional Residential Real Estate Transactions, costs $315 to take and $100 to take. Students who still have questions after taking the basic online course may consider paying an additional $120 to participate in additional online or in-class discussions. Simulation Session #1: Residential Real Estate Transactions costs $750 and there is no exam. The fourth course, Commercial Real Estate Transactions, costs $315 and the exam costs $100. Students who have many questions after the basic online course may consider paying an additional $120 for online or in-class discussions. Simulation Session #2: CommercialReal Estate Transactions costs $600 and there is no exam. The fifth course, Getting Started, is a $90 web-based tutorial with no exam. If a student does not pass a course, he/she may retake the course by paying the exam fee and retaking the exam for that course.
If you do not pass the same course more than twice, you will need to pay the course and exam fees again to complete the course and exam again. After passing the educational requirements, students can choose a real estate company to affiliate with and apply for a real estate agent’s license through the company. The documents required to apply for a real estate agent’s license are:
Original Canadian Criminal Record Check (Criminal Record Check), valid for 6 months
Copy of Transcript of each examination Canadian Passport / Canadian Permanent Resident Card / Canadian Work Permit + Canadian Driver’s License
A Visa or Master Card to cover the real estate agent’s license application fee
Other documents that may be required: original notarized Tradename, job description letter, address verification letter, etc. The real estate company you are affiliated with will help you submit your RECO application for a real estate agent’s license in Ontario. The application fee is $590 and the general processing time is 7-10 working days. After the application is approved, the applicant will receive the RECO Number and then need to register on Myweb at http://www.reco.on.ca and pay the annual insurance until August 31 to activate the real estate agent license (the annual RECO insurance for a full year is $465 and the first application will be based on the number of days remaining until August 31).
